The entire ideology is based on envy of those who have things (money, homes, cars, etc.).
Since the broke ass commies can't buy that stuff themselves with money they have earned, they don't want anyone to have it.
Misery loves company so the communist brokies demand the government confiscate everyone's property and wealth (inherited or not) and "redistribute it"... but the problem quickly arises that you cannot equally distribute these things among a mass of people.
So the commie overlords eventually destroy anything of large value and create "low cost" shit versions to distribute "equitably" among the population. But this doesn't work because not everybody is the same or has the same wants or needs. And there are finite resources.
What the commies end up doing is squeezing thin whatever resources they do have and rationing it out, so most are left unsatisfied with the scraps they are given.
If you want a larger home or apartment than the shitbox they provide for you, you must sit on a waiting list for years and years and may never get the thing you want at all.
If you want a fancy type of food, too bad the government has four options of slop you must choose from and you can only buy a second or third portion of the slop on offer.
Nobody is allowed to have a fancier car than another because that's "unfair" and produces envy so the only car available to you is the one model of shitbox the government produces.
And on and on with every possible good or service imaginable.
One model of toothbrush, one model of television, one style of clothing, etc.
What a hellhole!
